Obsuzhdaya prirodu protyazhennoi gazovoi peremychki (plume), avtory prishli k vyvodu, chto ona predstavlyaet soboi otdel'nuyu ot galaktiki strukturu i yavlyaetsya sledstviem prilivnogo vzaimodeistviya NGC 5253 s odnoi iz sosednih galaktik iz podgruppy Centavr A. Srednyaya metallichnost' gaza v NGC 5253 ravna Z=1/4 solnechnoi. Sravnenie ekstinkcii i luchevoi koncentracii neitral'nogo vodoroda v NGC 5253 provodit k sootnosheniyu gaz-k-pyli v 2-3 raza prevyshayushemu Galakticheskoe znachenie.

Dlya otveta na etot vopros trebuyutsya masshtabnye nablyudatel'nye programmy i teoreticheskoe issledovanie slozhnyh fizicheskih processov, proishodyashih na rannih etapah evolyucii sverhmassivnyh sharovyh skoplenii. Rezul'taty dannoi raboty pokazali, chto lineinaya korrelyaciya dlya golubyh karlikovyh galaktik sohranyaetsya. Ne isklyucheno odnako, chto etot rezul'tat yavlyaetsya ne sledstviem togo, chto radio- i infrakrasnoe izluchenie golubyh karlikovyh galaktik otrazhayut istinnyi temp zvezdoobrazovaniya v nih, a togo, chto ih deficit za schet malogo soderzhaniya pyli i podavlennogo neteplovogo izlucheniya kompensiruyut drug druga v ravnoi stepeni.
