Prometei i Pandora - dva sputnika-"pastuha", dvizhushihsya po krayam samogo vneshnego iz kolec Saturna. Ih periody obrasheniya dostatochno blizki: srednie dvizheniya etih dvuh sputnikov nahodyatsya v rezonanse 121:118. Avtory chislenno issledovali vozmozhnost' proyavleniya haosa v dannoi sisteme, obnaruzhili, chto haoticheskoe dvizhenie voznikaet, i smogli ponyat' ego prichinu (differencial'naya precessiya rassheplyaet osnovnoi rezonans na chetyre uzkie, blizko raspolozhennye, ravnootstoyashie po chastote komponenty, libraciya ushiryaet ih do sil'nogo vzaimnogo perekrytiya, v rezul'tate chego obrazuetsya zona haoticheskih dvizhenii). Haos v etoi sisteme proyavlyaetsya v tom, chto polozhenie sputnikov na ih orbitah mozhet otlichat'sya ot predskazyvaemogo srednim dvizheniem dlya Prometeya na 1.8o/god, a dlya Pandory - na 3.1o/god. Esli by massy sputnikov byli v neskol'ko raz men'she, ih dvizhenie bylo by regulyarnym.

Obrazovavshiesya podobnym putem zvezdy mogut imet' sushestvennye himicheskie i evolyucionnye osobennosti. Do 1965 goda schitalos', chto Merkurii obrashaetsya vokrug Solnca sinhronno (podobno Lune vokrug Zemli, orbital'nyi i osevoi periody pri etom ravny). V 1965 godu bylo pokazano, chto eto ne tak, Merkurii obrashaetsya vokrug Solnca v spin-orbital'nom rezonanse 3:2 (osevoi period - 58.656 dnya, orbital'nyi - 87.969 dnya). Etot neozhidannyi rezonans svyazan s nenulevym ekscentrisitetom orbity Merkuriya i sushestvennoi asimmetriei samoi planety. Dannye, poluchennye kosmicheskimi apparatami MESSENGER i BepiColombo, pozvolili postroit' novuyu bolee tochnuyu teoriyu dvizheniya Merkuriya. Eta teoriya pozvolyaet predskazat' ego libracii. V dvizhenii planety vyyavleny dva sobstvennyh perioda (15.847 i 1066 let) i vekovoi rezonans (na chastote 278898 let).

Migraciya dazhe maloi ih chasti k planetam zemnoi gruppy mozhet imet' sushestvennuyu asteroidnuyu opasnost'. Podobnoi migracii v pervuyu ochered' podverzheny ob'ekty na ellipticheskih orbitah, perigelii kotoryi blizki k orbite Yupitera. Modelirovanie 13000 podobnyh ob'ektov pokazalo, chto primerno 0.1% iz nih budut peresekat' orbitu Zemli.

Avtory stat'i rasschitali ustoichivost' orbit tipa Zemli dlya devyati izvestnyh sistem i pokazali, chto v bol'shinstve sluchaev oni yavlyayutsya ustoichivymi dlya rasstoyanii, sootvetstvuyushih blagopriyatnym dlya zhizni usloviyam. Ekstrapolyaciya na vse 93 sistemy vokrug zvezd glavnoi posledovatel'nosti, izvestnye na dannyi moment, daet takoi rezul'tat: primerno v treti sluchaev mozhno ozhidat' nalichie ustoichivyh orbit v "obitabel'nyh" zonah.

O budushih poiskah planet zemnogo tipa s pomosh'yu koronografov sm. nebol'shoi (8 stranic) obzor "Terrestrial Planet Finding with a Visible Light Coronagraph".
