Svoe nazvanie eti ob'ekty poluchili po istochniku-prototipu BL Lacertae (oboznachenie govorit o tom, chto ob'ekt byl otkryt kak obychnaya peremennaya zvezda v sozvezdii Yashericy). Eto aktivnye yadra, gde my smotrim prakticheski v samoe zherlo. Poetomu lacertidy yavlyayutsya istochnikami zhestkogo izlucheniya i tradicionno yavlyayutsya kandidatami dlya ob'yasneniya vsyakih vysokoenergichnyh fenomenov (naprimer, kosmicheskih luchei sverhvysokih energii). V zhestkom gamma, gde nablyudeniya vedutsya s pomosh'yu nazemnyh teleskopov (oni vidyat v optike vspyshki, svyazannye s popadaniem v atmosferu gamma-kvanta), otkryto uzhe mnogo lacertid. Mnogo, no ne sama BL Lac. Bylo mnogo signalov ob obnaruzhenii zhestkogo gamma, no vse oni ne podtverzhdalis'.


    Spektr BL Lacertae. Novye dannye, poluchennye na MAGIC privedeny sprava (zhirnye tochki). Spektr ob'ekta, po vsei vidimosti, izmenyaets so vremenem. Chernoi liniei pokazany novye nablyudeniya. Serym - starye dannye.

    Etot istochnik otnositsya k podklassu, kotoryi do sih por ne dal ni odnogo istochnika v zhestkom gamma. U istochnikov etogo tipa pervyi maksimum v spektre (sm. risunok) popadaet v oblast' submillimetrovyh voln ili vidimogo sveta. Vse lacertidy, kotorye ranee byli obnaruzheny v zhestkom gamma, imeyut etot pervyi maksimum v bolee zhestkoi oblasti: ul'trafioletovye ili rentgenovskie luchi. I vot, komande MAGIC udalos' zaregistrirovat' izluchenie ot BL Lac na energiyah ot 0.1 do 1 TeVa. Uchenym prishlos' summirovat' pochti 50 chasov nablyudenii. Uchtite, chto teleskopy takogo tipa mogut rabotat' tol'ko v yasnye bezlunnye nochi. MAGIC seichas yavlyaetsya krupneishim instrumentom v svoem klasse. Poetomu ne udivitel'no, chto imenno emu udalos' razglyadet' samuyu glavnuyu lacertidu.
